Hello! Hola!
My name is Fernando Marquez, but everyone calls me Austin, and I’m from Argentina. My passion for teaching English is rooted in my love for Asian history and cultures. I studied Asian History at university, where I discovered how English connects people across cultures. This passion led me to move to Japan in 2023, where I now teach at Joy to the World, an international school.
Before teaching, I spent over four years at Accenture, one of the world’s leading technology consulting firms. There, I worked with global teams, using English as our primary language. This experience sharpened my communication skills and gave me a global perspective on language learning. Now, I'm completing my TEFL and TESOL certification to further enhance my teaching skills.
As a non-native English speaker, I understand the challenges of learning a new language. This perspective helps me empathize with my students and guide them through overcoming obstacles in their language journey. At the same time, I´m studying japanese by myself, so I´m able to have simple conversations to help you in case we need it in each lesson.
My teaching style is student-centered and adaptable, with a strong focus on speaking and pronunciation to build confidence. I help students overcome the fear of speaking in public, whether at work, while traveling, or with friends. I offer lessons for both children and adults, starting with an introductory session to assess your level and set goals.
Outside of teaching, I enjoy boxing, swimming, playing guitar and drums, and reading books on history and sociology. These hobbies allow me to bring a wide range of topics into our lessons, making learning more engaging and relevant.
I'm excited to help you reach your English goals. Book a trial lesson and let´s work together!
