My name is Ron, and I'm an experienced EFL/ESL teacher who has taught at all education levels. I started my career tutoring and teaching at small colleges in the United States. In 2009, I moved to South Korea. I lived and taught there for seven years. While I mostly worked with elementary and middle school students, I also taught university students and older adults. I am well-educated and well-qualified, too. I have a Bachelor's degree in English education and a Master's degree in English literature.
I am an easy-going teacher who works hard to make students feel comfortable when learning. I understand that language learning is difficult and frustrating. I also understand that speaking in a foreign language can often be embarrassing. I try to create an environment that makes my students feel at ease while learning. I incorporate fun topics and humor into all of my lessons. My main goals as a teacher are to constantly check for understanding and to make sure my students feel comfortable while learning and practicing English.
Because I taught abroad for seven years, I have a good understanding of the challenges many English language learners face. Additionally, I am familiar with TEFL/TESOL exam formats and questions. Lastly, I am very good at editing student essays.
In my free time, I like to read and listen to music. I try to read as many different books as possible and I love all different types of music. I am also an avid pet owner and love talking to people about pet ownership. I try to travel as much as possible, too. I have been all over the United States and Asia, and I hope to travel to more countries in the future.
