I love communicating with people of all nationalities! So I am lucky to be able to speak English as a native speaker - but I have also learned how to teach English to make conversation or grammar lessons FUN and useful for everyone, whatever your level.

People remember more of their learning when they are having fun.

I have also learned how to speak Japanese and French, so I can help especially with common mistakes made in English by Japanese people, and with helping non-Japanese people understand Japanese!

Let me tell you about myself and my lessons: in total I lived for 4 years in Japan as a teacher and I liked living in Kyuushu the best!

I also worked for 6 years in a Japanese company in the UK, so I have extra insight into Business English and how to help Japanese employees with English in workplace situations.

Now I live in the Cotswolds in England, which is one of the most popular sightseeing areas of the UK because of the beautiful combination of nature and traditional stone-built villages and towns.

I enjoy teaching English online as well as teaching classroom lessons, and I am used to teaching Beginners or more confident students of any level.

My lessons can focus on any aspect of English, especially speaking and listening – because I like to help people with communication skills, and our lessons can include vocabulary, grammar, roleplaying, test preparation or communication skills for beginners.

I also specialise in Business English and skills for networking and business communication – and my sessions can include meeting skills, email communications, roleplaying and interview preparation.

Before the Coronavirus pandemic I was a teacher of small-group Eikaiwa English classes in London, and I often have private lessons for students who want to improve their communication skills.

I am qualified to teach English with a Cambridge certificate (CELTA) and a PGCE universtity qualification. In addition to this I gained a university degree in Politics and East Asian Studies, which included study of Economics and Psychology. I am able to teach English for all areas of academic study.

My lessons are always flexible because I follow any requests from students and if you have any specific needs you can always tell me. However, I think it is always best if the teacher has a plan for making the most of a lesson. Many students can talk about a wide variety of topics so the best teachers give them opportunity to talk, directing the lesson in ways which lead to useful English practice, and then correcting the student’s English accordingly. This is the way I have learned to teach my lessons – and if you would like to try it out please contact me for one of my trial lessons!
