Hi! I'm Nicole, and it would be a great pleasure to help you reach your English language goals. Here's a quick overview of my credentials:

  • Over 5 years experience teaching abroad and in the US. Students have ranged from all levels, ages, and countries of origin.
  • Former teacher for ELS Language Services.
  • CELTA certification and a Masters Degree in TESOL (Teaching English to Students of Other Languages).
  • My writing has been published in the journal Modern English Teacher (April, 2014).
  • designed the curriculum for an internationally used reading and writing text book.
Students would describe my teaching style as creative, interesting, and dynamic. I love to use a variety of methods in my classes, including music, video, new technologies, and interactive activities. I am friendly and approachable, and have been told that my explanations are always clear and easy to understand.

Like you, I am also a second language learner. I study Spanish, so I chose to go to Latin America when I first became a teacher in 2009. My first teaching job was in a town called Guapiles, Costa Rica. The photo above is of some of the highschool students I taught there.

After I finished my experience in Costa Rica, I came home to Philadelphia where I began working with a Russian school. My students were from various parts of Eastern Europe and Asia. They were of all different ages, too. My teaching developed greatly in my time with this school.

In 2010, I moved to San Francisco and began working for ELS Language Services. I have been with them for 5 years. ELS has an IEP (Intensive English Program) format which helps prepare students from all over the world for studying at university in the US. My students have come from countries such as Japan, South Korea, China, Thailand, Saudi Arabia, Brazil, and many many others! Below is a photo of my students and I having fun on graduation day.

As for education, I completed my Masters Degree in TESOL in June, 2014. Below is a photo from my graduation. I also completed the CELTA Certification program in 2011.

Beyond teaching English, I have a passion for yoga and photography. Those are my two favorite hobbies. I also enjoy cooking, traveling, and learning about different languages and cultures.

I love to travel! The photo above was taken in Montana.

I also am a new mom and I absolutely adore my family.

This photo was taken at the Grand Canyon.

In your classes with me:

  • I will help you reach your individual language goals.
  • We will have conversations about a variety of topics.
  • We will work on all skills: reading, listening, speaking, writing, and grammar.
  • I will teach you idioms and every day phrases.
  • We will have fun!

It's true that I am qualified to teach you. But more importantly, I am passionate about teaching you. That is how I know that you and I together will achieve your language goals.

I hope to see you online!
