Description
How are you? It's nice to meet you! My handle is Lady Ayame on Cafetalk. (My real name is Patricia Ayame Thomson).
[Self-introduction:]
I'd like to tell you a little about myself. I was born and raised in Tokyo, Japan, but I went to a school located on the Yokota Air Base in Fussa. When I was 18-years-old, I moved to the United States to attend the University of California in Los Angeles (UCLA). I graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in Theatre Arts.
I've worked as a professional actress on TV and Film. During that time, I lived in Studio City, (Los Angeles) California for several decades, so I'm much more fluent in English than Japanese. However, my Japanese background helps me understand the sentiment, culture, and behavior of the Japanese people very well. In addition, I can understand and speak enough Japanese to express myself when I'm teaching.
After my twenty-five-year career as an actress in Hollywood, I had a career change and attended the San Jose State University (SJSU). I graduated with a degree in Library and Information Science (MLIS) in 2015. I was going to be a librarian but I ended up becoming an English tutor on Cafetalk.
Then, in 2016, I moved to Saskatchewan, Canada. I have been an online English Tutor on Cafetalk since I've been here. My students range from 3-years-old children to adults of all ages! I've been successful enough to make tutoring my full-time job! I've enjoyed meeting many people from many countries, and I feel a sense of accomplishment, fulfillment, and deep satisfaction from teaching--especially when the student successfully achieves their goals!
