This teacher suddenly said, “Your Japanese speaking is bad.” I had not asked him for an honest appraisal nor had I claimed I was amazing at speaking Japanese. Like, of course, my speaking needs improvement - that's why one looks for a tutor. And these kinds of put-downs are about the quickest way to sever all rapport. Otherwise, I found him rather uncomfortable to talk to and a poor listener. I was confused by all of the good reviews. Perhaps he is used to dealing with non-western students of Japanese to whom his methods work with? But the “funny” and “comedy” in his lessons was completely absent

Anegawa-sensei was able to provide immediate feedbacks about my inappropriate usages and demonstrated authentic way to express in Japanese. He also listened attentively to show how I could improve my accent with repeated drills. I feel that his class is useful for who takes Japanese learning very seriously with a goal to express naturally like a Japanese native speaker.

His lessons are perfect for those already learning Japanese on their own with a solid textbook. If you are just starting out, his lessons may be a little bit challenging for you. He is a good teacher that will write down and let you know what mistakes you've made during class.

Thanks to Anegawa-Sensei, I was able to correct my mistakes in Japanese. I am studying Japanese by myself and it is really hard to spot the mistake, but Anegawa-Sensei correct it one by one. His remarkable power of patience is amazing! He can also explain the difficult grammar in a very easy way! The way he taught me made me realized that he is really an experienced Japanese Teacher. Highly recommended!
