I've been reading two books at the same time with Teacher Yoshinori's help. As a matter fact, I've already finished reading one of them by myself, but I couldn't get rid of my miss-out-something feeling. So, I decided to go back to the beginning and start it over. In my first read, I just followed the story line, but now, with Teacher Yoshinori's detailed analysis of sentence structures and grammar, I'm enjoying the book much more than before. His occasional questions help me realize my take is wrong. I've been learning English from him for long, so he can tell what I know, and what I don't. I'm always amazed to learn how much he knows and how well he explains so that I can get easily. I now congratulate myself for having asked him for help with my second read. I can say for sure he is the person to go to whenever I am worried about my English skills.

The more I mistake, the more I learn. The more I learn in Yoshinori-sensei's lessons, the more I like English. For these reasons, I am going to make a lot of mistakes in his dictation lessons. Thank you so much for the wonderful lesson again!

and you'll understand why it is I hate cats and dogs. が強調構文だとは見抜けませんでした。先生に教わって納得でき、良かったです。独力で勉強していては質問もできないので、ありがたいです。また質問が出てきたら教えてもらおうと思います!(^^)!

最近はリスニングの試験対策をお願いしています。
大変博識な先生ですが、理解力が幾分乏しい私でも、レベルに合わせてくれるので、とてもポイントがわかりやすく、いつも目から鱗が落ちる感じです。
I felt like the scales fell from my eyes.
リスニングがとくに苦手で手掛かりが見えなかったのですが、進むべき方向が分かって凄く助かっています。

I often hear it said that reading as much as possible is a key to the good comprehension skill of reading. I partially agree to this, but I don't agree to the idea that it's no problem to ignore what you can't figure out. I don't want to do this. As for me, I do want to read English passages rapidly and with good understanding. To this end, the lesson I've been asking Teacher Yoshinori to give me is so helpful. On picking an article from CNN news site at will on the spot, I begin translating each sentence. When necessary, he makes corrections with good explanations. I'm always amazed at how profound his comprehension of the article is even though it is also new to him. By closely and immediately seeing how he analyzes structures of sentences with his abundance of knowledge, I've been learning a great deal. I like this way of learning so much that I'd like to continue to take his lessons.

Yoshinori-sensei's corrections to the transcripts are always elaborate, precise and thorough. He doesn't allow any compromise in corrections. In fact, he picks every sound uttered by a speaker / speakers in clips and transcribe it perfectly. It's like there is no stone left unturned. This kind of correction is exactly what I need most. Thanks to his thorough corrections, I always get a lot of red characters, which means I make so many mistakes. Honestly, on the one hand, I can't help but feel mad at myself; on the other hand, I'm glad to be able to get opportunities to learn more. His corrections are really good, so I'd like to continue to take his lessons.

Finally, with Teacher Yoshinori's help, I was able to make my dream come true. It was to translate the short story called Akagaeru ( a red frog )into English. In the story, a frog silently surrenders himself into currents of a river after accepting his fate. It left such a strong impression on me when I first read it, and also, I like writing something in English so much that I decided to translate the story into English. Now, looking back on the past seven months, I can definitely say that I learned a lot through his lessons and my choice of him as a teacher was right. How he corrected my translations actually showed me how to analyze the original text and what words he chose taught me the importance of collocation. Also, he demonstrated how to do proper research with the computer. The number of files he sent me has amounted to 23. They are my treasures. I can't thank him too much. ありがとうございました。お蔭で、長年の夢を実現することが出来ました。

The answers in the file the teacher had sent me in advance of the lesson time was perfect. Just by reading it I was able to solve all the questions I had asked. So, in the lesson, I asked him how he had learned English. His answer was really interesting and inspiring. I've learned that to him English is no longer a thing to learn. It's more like a part of his life. I'd like to continue to learn English from him.

His lessons are always rich in content. As usual, I asked the teacher to correct my translations. The lesson usually goes like this: I send my translations to him a few days in advance and then he sends them back to me in the file, where he shows his model translations together with his explanations why he has corrected mine that way. Every time I read his file, I'm impressed. I can tell it must be easy for him to find my mistakes in choosing words or phrases. What always impresses me, in addition to his model translations, is the way he explains to me. He never fails to show proof to support his explanations. So they are logical and convincing. He said it takes him quite a long time to complete the file. His work is careful, strict and uncompromising. I'm always satisfied with his lessons to the fullest.

I learned a lot today as usual. What he said during the lesson impressed me a lot. He said his objective is to make students independent learners, who can do some research and reach solutions by themselves. No matter what subjects teachers teach, teachers should be like this. Teaching how to reach solutions must be much more difficult than just giving answers. To this end, he always enthusiastically shows me how he found clues to the solutions to my questions. This time as usual I asked him to check out my translations. Every time I hear and read his explanations, I'm amazed at the way he analyzes its original text and his proper choice of English expressions. I have one thing I'm good at if I do say so myself. That is to find good teachers.

The file the teacher sent me for the lesson was awesome. Even for one question I asked, he searched the Internet for firm grounds to support his explanations. This attitude of his toward his student, me, impressed me a lot. It was a good lesson.

Today, I asked the teacher to correct my English letter to the exchange student studying in our school. She's going back to the U.S. at the end of this month. As I've wanted to get the details of my meaning across to her to the fullest, I needed his help with English. To this end, his objective and logical observation was what I needed most . As usual his explanations were so clear and to the point. He is such a reliable mentor that he always lives up to my expectations.

To Japanese people one of the most difficult things to learn is how to use "a" or "the" properly. And I often have problems with them. Today, I learned that articles are something like が or は in Japanese. This view was eyeopening to me. Also,he talked a bit about how he learned English, which was so interesting and helpful. I'm looking forward to learning more from him.

I've just come back after making a short speech in Japanese and English as well. As for the English part, I was not sure whether it was actually correct and made sense to native English speakers who were present. Though I asked him to proofread it at such a short notice, he accepted my request without hesitation. I was impressed by the way he corrected and improved it. Besides just correcting my mistakes, he suggested a few more similar expressions to choose from. I think he tried to leave room for flexibility so that the speech could still reflect my personality. Thanks to him I managed to make a speech with confidence today. I can't thank you too much. ^^
