It was my first lesson using pictures. Describing what are depicted in pictures was harder than I thought! Charles brought up 4 picture, 2 photographs and 2 paintings, all of them were distinct and fun to talk about. Thank you for the enjoyable lesson!

We had this lesson with an audio material that Charles sent me in advance. It suited to my level, not too easy nor difficult. Charles also sent me questions related story of the audio. So I could train not only my listening skill but also my speaking skill.

First of all, I’d like to express my heartfelt gratitude for Charles’ flexibility.
He generously accepted my request to take this as a non-Skype lesson.
He sent me a short video clip so that I watch and write my thoughts about it.
It was about a life of a fire lookout. I really like this kind of videos which introduce us all different walks of life. I suppose Charles makes a point of catering to each student’s interests and palates when he chooses a video.
He corrected my writing and sent it to me with an article he had read. I’m grateful he often shares an article or a video he liked. It always broadens my small world and helps me understand different lives and points of view.
スカイプなしレッスンとして受けました。快諾してくださったチャールズ先生に感謝します。レッスン確定と共に3分弱の動画を送られてきました。それを見て感想と質問を返送するという流れでした。自作の教材や動画・写真を使ったレッスンの場合、機械的にどの生徒さんにも同じものを順番に送る先生もいらっしゃいますが、チャールズ先生はおそらく1人1人の性格や好みを把握された上で選んでくださっているのではないかと推察します。
今回はこのご時世で色々思うところが多い私、そして日本の現状をその都度メッセージでお伝えしている（先生も常に気にかけて聞いてくださいます）私のために選んでくださったのではと考えています。リモートワークが進んだものの、海外に比べるとまだまだ満員電車にゆられながら、あるいは渋滞の中を運転しての出社を余儀なくされることが多いと言われる日本人の1人として少し考えさせられる動画でした。私が書いたものはしっかり赤で直して下さいましたし提案もしていただきました。おそらく課題の動画に関連したものなのでしょう、先生がお読みになって気に入った新聞記事も読みやすい形式で送ってくださいました。いいリーディングの教材になりそうです。臨機応変に対応してくださる先生なので、ぜひ1度レッスンを受けてみてください。

We took a topic about Verne‘s story. His great imagination predicted these day’s technology. This time, the news film we choose is a bit older, in which the professionals speaker used the elegant and authentic words. I was challenging dictations but needed to support from Charles. It was a good material for me to learning higher levels. I enjoyed it.
