Charles allowed me to choose one from four images for this lesson. Reading and watching about the news on the surge of COVID-19 cases day in and day out, I’ve been stressed out. Therefore, I simply enjoyed looking at the four images. I couldn’t help but diving into the world of them and creating a story for each of them.

Thanks to Charles for a good lesson every time. He is interested in Asian culture. We used to use chopsticks when we have food. I think we have a certain style, length, and design with chopsticks. I had a nice time for the talk lesson. I would like to talk about some Japanese weird things with him!

Thank you for the enjoyable lesson! In this lesson, I could have a good conversation with 2 photos. One of them was an old Japanese photo that pictured a mother and sons and a hibachi. While we talked about this photo, I learned the term “hibachi” is used in the U.S. Charles showed me the photo of the American version of hibachi, it was actually a barbecue grill! I could learn not only language but also the culture in this lesson.

Thanks, Charles for having the lesson. Japanese people, including me, have always felt uncomfortable calling their teachers by their first names. That seems a bit rude to say. It was good to talk about it with Professor B in this lesson :D Japanese people usually use the family name when we call her/him. It was a short time, but we also talked about Japanese diet. I think that a nutritionally balanced set meal is the key to our healthy diet. This discussion will be extended next time. See you next Sunday!

Charles is more than a great teacher! I learned a lot during our first trial session. I will definitely take more lessons with him. Not every language tutor knows how to mentor students and cater to their needs. But Charles is amazing and I feel so lucky.
