Another great lesson with 주연 선생님! I genuinely enjoy taking her classes regularly because I learn useful, commonly-used expressions with every topic that we discuss. When I struggle to find the right words to say, 주연 선생님 patiently waits and doesn't simply try to finish my sentence for me. She encourages me to try to slowly say what I wanted to say without giving up too early. I appreciate this a lot!!! I can really feel that I am expanding my knowledge with every lesson. Even after the lesson, I can continue studying Korean using her awesome feedback! I look forward to meeting her again next week :)

Today I practiced talking about a piece of news article I had read about. I got to practice newly-learned vocabulary and grammar structures. 주연 선생님 patiently waited for me to formulate sentences and offered gentle yet thorough corrections throughout the class. She also explained to me the difference between 준비되다 vs 준비하다 and 이해되다 vs 이해하다. I’m going to continue practice using these words with 주연 선생님. As 주연 선생님 wrote in one of her feedbacks: 실수를 통해서 더 많이 배울 수 있어요 (this has become my language-learning motto!!). I’m looking forward to our next class~~~

As always, it was a fantastic lesson. One thing I love about 주연 선생님 is how engaged she is. Seeing her engaged in the conversation gives me the confidence to continue talking as much as I could. Today 주연 선생님 offered great ideas for me to incorporate in my Korean language learning journey to improve my vocabulary skills as I realized I had been staying in my comfort zone by repeating the same set of words I knew. I also appreciate that she remembered I like crime-related stuff, so she offered that I could start expanding my vocabulary by watching or reading crime-related news. I thought this was a GREAT idea as I had dreaded the idea of learning Korean through news articles :D I will try this suggestion and practice newly-learnt vocabulary and expressions with 주연 선생님! 부담없이 한국어를 말할 수 있도록 해주셔서 정말 감사합니다! 다음 수업때 만나요~~~

Today I practiced speaking Korean while talking about our language-learning journey with 주연 선생님. As always, I got to speak a lot (as much as I could) worry-free. 주연 선생님 gently corrected my mistakes and patiently waited for me to find the right words to use. I also love that she offers a more natural way of expressing something that may be grammatically correct but doesn't sound natural. Also, I was feeling down but she cheerfully reminded me of all the effort I've been putting into not only learning Korean but Spanish as well and how I'm doing a great job. I'm very grateful for her support! Thank you ❤︎

Another great lesson with 주연 선생님! Today she explained to me the difference between ~고 and ~어/아 서 in the context of “and”. I created sample sentences to test my own understanding and for each sentence, 주연 선생님 patiently explained how the meaning of the sentence would change if I used 고 vs 어/아 서. It’s a free-talking class, but with 주연 선생님, I always end up learning more grammar and vocabulary too! I’m excited to deliberately practice newly-learnt grammar and vocabulary in future classes.

Today we talked about common breakfast foods, frozen foods, seasonal fruits, etc. I also looked around my room and realized I didn’t know how to say some daily activities like folding the laundry in Korean so I talked about that with 주연 선생님 and I asked her other things that came to mind like how to say drawers, cupboards, etc. in Korean. Taking free-talking classes with 주연 선생님 expands my vocabulary because we talk about many different things and I’m challenged (in the best way) to talk about things I never talked about before in Korean, so I can’t help but expand my vocabulary and improve my speaking skills ^^ I’m already looking forward to taking another class with her in 2 days!

Today 주연 선생님 introduced me to 전통찻집. It’s definitely an experience I want to try when I visit South Korea in the future. 주연 선생님 also shared about 떡케익 and the various types of 떡 available. I’ve only tried 떡볶이 so it was super interesting to learn the different kinds of 떡 available. As always, I had a great time learning new vocabulary and expressions while talking about interesting things. Can I even call this a class?!!!! Classes are usually not fun :D But it was so fun and enjoyable to practice speaking Korean with 주연 선생님. She’s always kind and encouraging with her corrections so it doesn’t make me feel bad to make a bunch of mistakes and just practice speaking as much as I can without worrying. I will continue taking classes with her! Already looking forward to our next class!

Wow I learned so many new words and expressions today! There were many things I struggled with but 주연 선생님 was patient, kind and gentle with her corrections so I felt comfortable making an attempt to talk about things I never talked about in Korean before like cultural differences between Canada and South Korea. Since 주연 선생님 has lived in Canada before, it was interesting to hear to her perspective and learn about the differences she noticed. As always, taking classes with 주연 선생님 has proven to be a great help in improving my Korean speaking and listening skills!! Highly recommend!

Today I brought up 5 Korean sentences that I couldn’t pronounce well and 주연 선생님 helped improve my pronunciation so I could say those sentences more clearly and naturally. We also talked about the difference between 미리 and 먼저. Due to 주연 선생님’s bright personality, each class feels super fun. I remember when I first started taking her 20-min Korean class, it felt intimidating to have to speak in Korean for 20 minutes but 주연 선생님 has always been patient, kind and encouraging, so look at me now ^^ I get to improve my Korean while having a great time, laughing and talking about things that interest me (it helps that we share many common interests as well!). This is the best method to learn a language for sure. I look forward to taking her 40-min classes~~~

Today we talked about why 한우 is so expensive, about arriving early when meeting up with friends and about language learning methods. I love how I can talk about not just one, but three(!) random things in one class with 주연 선생님 ^^ It’s so fun being able to freely talk about whatever comes up for me. I get to have a fun conversation and improve my Korean at the same time! I will not stop taking these classes with 주연 선생님. I always walk away with natural, commonly-used expressions (like 그런 날도 있어요 and 그럴 수도 있어요) that will be very helpful for me to know to naturally converse in Korean. I’m already looking forward to our next class~~~

As always, taking classes with 주연 선생님 gives me the opportunity to speak freely (as much as I can) and practice using expressions like 그럼요 and 그렇네요. 주연 선생님 is also very warm and friendly so I can make lots of mistakes without worrying, knowing that I am well-supported! It feels amazing to take classes with a teacher who I can freely make mistakes with, because as a language learner, mistakes are inevitable. I look forward to taking longer classes with 주연 선생님 in the future! :)

As always, practicing Korean with 주연 선생님 is very fun! Today I shared 2 ghost stories with 주연 선생님. I got to practice using past tense to tell a story as well as using 다고 하다 to talk about what someone else said. I love that these speaking lessons allow me to practice new vocabulary, expressions and grammar points in a fun way. 주연 선생님 is also gentle yet detailed in her corrections, ensuring that my Korean improves with each class. I see her 2-3 times a week but it’s always so so so fun. I can’t wait for our next class!!

I was confused about similar words like 요즘 and 최근 and 주연 선생님 prepared a PDF file with clear explanations and sample sentences for me to grasp the difference! I am so so so thankful!!!! She’s also patient and gentle with her corrections. I love that 주연 선생님 creates a warm, comfortable atmosphere for me to learn, talk lots, make mistakes and ultimately improve my Korean. I’m already looking forward to our next class!

What a fun class talking to 주연 선생님 about reactions like 어머나 and 아이고. I hear these reactions very often in dramas but I didn’t fully understand when to use which expression. Also, I’m someone with a lot of questions and 주연 선생님 always answers all of them thoroughly! I appreciate it very much. She even sends extra material after class (like articles, voice recordings and videos) to aid my learning and understanding of what we discussed in class. My Korean is truly improving with each class and I’m thankful for her teaching. 오늘도 즐거웠어요! 감사합니다!

Another amazing lesson with 주연 선생님! Today we talked about living in another country. I got to learn new vocabulary and expressions. I also practiced using “~잖아요” which I hear very often in dramas/variety shows but haven’t gotten to use much. I love that 주연 선생님 recommends ways to say things more naturally like a South Korean would. I never wanted to speak “textbook” Korean so these classes are so helpful to make sure I don’t. Highly recommend!

Today 주연 선생님 taught me the difference between 밀리다 vs 미루다. Practicing speaking Korean with 주연 성생님 is always fun because she creates a comfortable atmosphere for me to talk, use new vocabulary and ask questions. Although I make many mistakes, 주연 선생님 is always gentle and encouraging with her corrections. She’s also generous with her compliments and she never forgets to acknowledge the effort I put into getting better at Korean. I don’t even remember how I found her profile here on Cafetalk but I’m very thankful I did! Looking forward to many more lessons with her ^^

Today we talked about 직장생활. I got to learn more about how people think about work in South Korea. It’s fascinating to take 주연 선생님’s lessons because I always learn more about the culture as I practice and get better at speaking in Korean. I feel like when I watch k-dramas or read webtoons, things that previously didn’t make a lot of sense will now do because I’m learning more about the culture. These free-talking classes with 주연 선생님 are so good! Highly recommend!!

Today I learned so many useful expressions to keep in mind when eating out in South Korea. For example, my boyfriend doesn’t eat spicy food well so I learned how to ask how spicy the food was and whether they could make it less spicy. Super useful lesson! One of the best things about 주연 선생님’s lessons is her post-lesson feedback because she writes down all the expressions I learned in class and even adds more helpful points about grammar, vocabulary, etc. I know today’s feedback will be one I continue to read over and over again until the expressions become natural for me to use. I was re-reading her feedback from our previous classes and the amount of valuable expressions I learn in each class is phenomenal! 정말 감사합니다 선생님~~

Today I learned that addressing someone as 아줌마 may be impolite in certain situations. It was very important for me to learn because prior to this lesson, I had thought 아줌마 simply meant aunt. Turns out it’s not as simple as that :D I also learned how to address my Korean friend’s parents. When I visit Seoul in the future, I’m most likely going to visit my Korean friend’s parents so I’m so glad 주연 선생님 taught me this today! Imagine if I addressed her as 아줌마 ㅎㅎㅎ I always learn valuable cultural things whenever I take lessons with 주연 선생님. It’s so fun and interesting to practice Korean while learning more about South Korean culture. I will continue taking lots of classes with her ^^

As always, 주연 선생님 was kind and encouraging throughout the class. She always creates a warm, friendly atmosphere that allows me to feel comfortable to talk lots even though I make many mistakes along the way. I also appreciate that she’s always thorough yet gentle in her corrections. The feedback that she provides after her classes are SUPER helpful. To this day I still read her feedback from 4 months ago (when I first started taking her lessons) to review useful expressions I learned back then. I’m already looking forward to our next class!
