Today we had an interesting discussion about living in 집단주의 vs 개인주의 society. Something common that I share with 주연 선생님 is that we have experienced living in both societies, so we discussed our experiences and the pros and cons. I struggled to convey my thoughts in Korean but 주연 선생님 was very patient and gave me as much time as I needed to try coming up with the words myself first before she kindly offered suggestions and corrections. I'm excited to continue improving my Korean so I can have various discussions with 주연 선생님 seamlessly!!

Today we continued talking about North Korea and we talked about South Korea's rapid economic growth since 1950. We talked about the pros and cons that came with such rapid growth, making it a very interesting discussion. With such a topic, naturally, I got to learn lots of new words and expressions. I also got to use vocabulary I knew but had never used like 성장, 상경 and 인재, and I got to hear 주연 선생님 use words I knew but had never heard before in a conversation like 겨를 and 파견. As always, 주연 선생님 created a warm and friendly atmosphere so I could practice speaking Korean without worrying about making mistakes. I look forward to many more conversations with 주연 선생님 ^^

Today I asked 주연 선생님 about North Korea. It was such an interesting discussion and I learned plenty of new words and expressions like 공산주의 and 탈북자. I also finally got one of the books 주연 선생님 recommended to me months ago, and we had a lovely discussion related to the topic of the book as well. Lessons with 주연 선생님 certainly help me increase my vocabulary because the topics we discuss vary each time. 주연 선생님 then compiles it all in her detailed post-class feedback, which allows me to thoroughly review what I learned in class. The richness of her feedback is something I truly appreciate! I look forward to our next class.

Today's topic was about 외국 요리. 주연 선생님 sent PDF material in advance so I was able to learn new words and expressions even prior to taking the class. During class, I shared my thoughts about food and cooking. 주연 선생님 listened to my broken Korean with a smile and offered gentle suggestions along the way. I felt comfortable talking lots and making mistakes without worry. Since food is such a common conversational topic, I want to be able to talk about food confidently in Korean and this class was a great help! I look forward to our next class!

I had a great time improving my Korean speaking skills with 주연 선생님 today! I asked 주연 선생님 about which 동네 I should stay in when I visit Seoul in the future, so we talked about Seoul, 경기도, foods to try, etc. 주연 선생님's classes always have a warm and friendly atmosphere, so it makes it easy to talk as much as I can within my capabilities. Even though I need a minute or so to think about the word or expression I want to use, 주연 선생님 patiently waits and she's always very encouraging throughout the class. She also acknowledges and offers warm compliments whenever I try to incorporate new words or expressions into the conversation. I will continue to take 주연 선생님's classes!!!

We talked about Korean food today and it made me very hungry! :D Now I want to try everything she recommended! Conversations with 주연 선생님 are always fun. She patiently waited for me to think of the correct word to use and even when I said unnatural expressions, she would still be positive and encouraging. I never felt awkward about making mistakes because she was always kind. I'm already looking forward to our next conversation. I can't wait to speak Korean fluently so I can have an even more enjoyable conversation with 주연 선생님!!!

Another amazing class with 주연 선생님! Conversations with 주연 선생님 are always interesting because we share many common interests, so I not only got to have a fun conversation, but I also got to learn Korean words and expressions that are related to things I am interested in. Slowly but surely I am able to talk about all kinds of things in Korean with 주연 선생님's kind guidance. The lesson I highly look forward to every week!!! ^^ Today I practiced my Korean by sharing what I've been feeling lately. It's always a safe space with 주연 선생님. I feel listened to, and 주연 선생님 never forgets to provide ample encouragement even when I struggle to think of the right words to use. I want to be able to comfortably talk about any topic in Korean, and with 주연 선생님's classes, I can do just that. I can bring up anything and we always have a healthy discussion about it. I don't have to worry about making mistakes because of 주연 선생님's gentle and kind nature. Also, 주연 선생님's post-class feedback is very detailed so I could thoroughly review new words and expressions I learned during class. 주연 선생님, 오늘도 감사했습니다. 선생님 덕분에 한국어뿐만 아니라 삶에 대해서도 공부하게 되었습니다. 저에게 큰 도움이 되고 힘을 얻었습니다. 감사합니다.

I wanted to practice expressing ideas logically and coherently in Korean using past TOPIK 쓰기 topics, so on the request page, I wrote to 주연 선생님 about a specific topic that I would like to practice on. 주연 선생님 prepared a PDF document with bullet points and sample sentences, so I learned new vocabulary and expressions related to the topic and we had a healthy discussion about it. I also talked about some obstacles I faced during my TOPIK studies. Whenever I looked negatively at a situation, 주연 선생님 kept a positive attitude and suggested a positive way to look at it. For example, I shared that I was struggling to write paragraphs and she offered something along the lines of there's nothing wrong with writing one sentence at a time. As soon as she offered this perspective, I instantly felt lighter! After all, writing one sentence at a time is how paragraphs are made. I will continue practicing writing sentences until I can confidently write paragraphs! ^^ I'm very happy to have met her on this platform. I look forward to learning many more things from her.

Today I shared with 주연 선생님 that coming up with ideas to answer TOPIK II's 54번 itself was difficult and she suggested that we discuss 54번-related topics during class so I can practice brainstorming for ideas and then expressing those ideas in Korean. This is a fantastic solution that I know will be very helpful in my TOPIK preparation! It's a free talking class but I always get so much more than free talking. I am very thankful! ^^ I look forward to our next class!

It's fascinating how I always end up learning more about myself when taking classes with 주연 선생님! We started talking about wine because there are a bunch of wineries here in BC and I felt like talking about wine. Then we ended up talking about Europe, 출장, languages and eventually some personal things I wanted to share. 주연 선생님 always patiently listened to my broken Korean and suggested thorough yet gentle corrections. She also offered a more positive way to look at certain things in my life that I had been viewing negatively. Since 주연 선생님 was able to see those things positively, I think that just shows the kind of person she is! ^^ 선생님 덕분에 더 긍정적으로 생각할 수 있게 되었습니다. 감사합니다.

Today I went into the class feeling tired after a long day at work but having a class with 주연 선생님 gave me energy!! Not only did I get to practice Korean, I also got to laugh and have a great time ^^ With her gentle and thorough corrections, I learned new words and expressions that I could use in everyday life. I also told her stories in a long and complicated way but I appreciated that 주연 선생님 patiently listened and then provided more natural ways to say what I said. Moreover, I could thoroughly review everything I learned in class with her detailed post-class feedback (which is another thing I’m thankful for because sometimes I’d get too excited and I’d forget what what I learned :P). As always, I look forward to our next class!!

Today we expanded from talking about the weather to sharing experiences about the weather here in Canada. Since 주연 선생님 has lived in Canada before, it's always fun to hear her stories. She would share about the differences between Canada and South Korea as well which I love hearing about. After class, 주연 선생님 always sends helpful feedback that I can use for review even months down the road. I am in the process of reviewing her feedback from when I first took classes with her in April and each time I review it, I'm reminded of vocabulary and expressions I had forgotten that I'm glad I can learn again! I appreciate and deeply enjoy that I am able to continue learning even between classes. I can't wait for our next class :)

In today’s class we talked about 불안감. It’s something I feel quite often, so being able to talk about it in Korean with 주연 선생님 made it a very fulfilling class. We also talked about cultivating self-respect and setting boundaries with people. I learned new words and expressions I could use to talk about my feelings, relationships, experiences, etc. One of the reasons I’m learning Korean is to be able to use the language to share my thoughts, opinions, feelings and experiences with people and also understand it when they share theirs, so it brings me joy to do exactly that today! 주연 선생님’s post-class feedback is also very detailed with corrections, word/expression meanings and sample sentences so I can review everything that I learned today. As always, I look forward to the next class ^^

As always, it was a great lesson with 주연 선생님! I got to practice expressing my thoughts, feelings and opinions using Korean. Also, I'm currently reading a book in Korean and I got to tell 주연 선생님 what the book was about. I tried using words I had recently learned but never used before like 이상적 and 지적하다, so it took me a while to form sentences with these words, but 주연 선생님 patiently waited for me to think and come up with the words myself no matter how long it took. I'm thankful for her patience. 선생님이랑 부담없이 다양한 주제로 이야기를 할 수 있어서 늘 재미있습니다. 다음에 또 뵙겠습니다!

I had a great time practicing speaking Korean today! 주연 선생님 is always patient no matter how long it takes me to come up with the right words to say. Today we talked about movies, dramas and the 재벌 culture in Korea, and I found myself struggling to describe movie scenes and my opinion about the 재벌 culture. 주연 선생님 kindly taught me words and expressions I could use to describe what I wanted to say, so I also increased my vocabulary today! ^^ I will continue to practice describing scenes, books, etc. It seems like a great practice for me! 항상 인내심을 가지고 가르쳐 주셔서 정말 감사힙니다! 목요일에 뵙겠습니다~~~

Wow today’s class made me reflect on my first class with 주연 선생님… The improvement I experienced within 4 months is quite massive if I do say so myself, and I couldn’t have done it without 주연 선생님. During my first class, I could barely connect sentences. I ended every sentence with “~어/아요” instead of other sentence endings like “~네요” or “~잖아요” or even connections like “~는데” because the words just wouldn’t come out of my mouth no matter how much I theoretically knew about them. 주연 선생님 patiently taught me ways to naturally say the things I wanted to say and guided me to connect sentences to sound more natural. Her post-class feedback is also fantastic and detailed so I could thoroughly review the words and expressions I learned in class. When I struggle to find the right words to use, 주연 선생님 patiently waits and encourages me to keep going instead of giving me the answer right away. I believe this is a big reason why it’s getting easier to generate words and express my ideas using Korean! It’s certainly a lesson I look forward to every week!!! Can’t wait for the next one~~~

Another great lesson! Today the theme was about “스스로에게 얼마나 만족하시나요?” I loved the material that 주연 선생님 sent in advance because I got to learn useful vocabulary I could use to describe what I was feeling like 아쉬운 점 and 추구하는 삶. I also feel very safe and comfortable in 주연 선생님’s classes so today I shared how I was truly feeling and I not only got to practice my Korean speaking skills but also got to receive encouragement and support from 주연 선생님, which I’m very grateful for! ^^ I’m already looking to our next class~~

I learned a lot of useful expressions today! I enjoy taking classes with 주연 선생님 regularly because she creates a friendly atmosphere that allows me to feel comfortable talking about any topic, especially things that I talk about on a daily basis in English (like today we talked about money/finances). I get to learn vocabulary and expressions I will actually use in real life, which makes taking these classes so helpful, interesting, and something I look forward to every week!!! I can’t wait to take another class next week~~

Today’s class with 주연 선생님 was fun as always! In a short period of time, I was able to practice talking as much as I could because 주연 선생님 patiently listened to my broken Korean and offered gentle suggestions whenever I got stuck. Today we talked about 성격 and I was able to learn words and expressions related to personality. I think personality-related stuff comes up often in daily conversations, so this class was very helpful! I will certainly continue taking classes with 주연 선생님!
