This is my first group lesson and I'm very impressed that Ian, as a teacher, arranged the class very well and we, 3 students, were able to express our opinions enough and equally. The topic of this week's TED talk is very interesting and profound. Overall, I think it was a very stimulating class and I will long remember the famous quote by Milton ' The mind is its own place, and in itself can make a heaven of hell, a hell of heaven."
カフェトークで勉強を始めて数年になりますが、グループレッスンを受けたのは今回が始めてでした。（以前このクラスを受けた時は、キャンセルが出て、私一人という贅沢なクラスになったので｡｡｡）今回、上限の生徒3人での参加ということで、どんなふうに進めるのかと思いましたが、さすがにIan先生はお上手で、トピックの内容について皆で読み進め、パラグラフごとにそれぞれに意見を聞いて皆が等しく話せる時間を作ってくれました。非常に頭のいい熱心な先生だと思います。先生自身も言葉をゆっくりとかみしめるように話されます。発言の量ではなく内容重視に思えます。
このクラスは、3人とはいえ、800円で受けれる価値あるクラスと思います。ただ内容も決して易しくないし、事前予習は必須です。機会があれば又受講したいなと思います。

This is a relatively challenging lesson. My brain was working at full speed trying to think in short time and explain my thought in English. However, the topic is interesting and make me think. In addition, I can learn a lot from other students.

Mr Ian's lesson is very interesting. Using Ted talk material is difficult for me but I can discuss with other student is really fun!
I can speak up my honest opinion what do I think and I can listen to other people's opinion and the teacher's opinion.
I realized English is a tool to communicate!!

I really like this group lesson. Although I felt nervous when it was my turn to speak, I am glad that I could share my opinions with others. Mr Lan is a very patient man and a good listener. He encouraged us to talk about our own thoughts and don't have to agree everything that TED Speaker said. It is a really good lesson for me to express myself in English.

Great lesson to made me really think in a English and then share it with others. Challenging in a way because I need strong focus on the topic at the same time I make myself clear in English.
The discussion was very motivating with other members joining as well. It definitely is a great practice for me to work with non-Japanese colleagues at work.

Thank you for the wonderful class on Cafe talk Day ! Although I sent him my lesson request at the very last minute, he accepted it very smoothly and gave me an excellent /educational lesson on the topic. As I love horses, I asked him to teach me about horses ( especially about racehorses) in this speaking class. His knowledge about horses is tremendous..... I'm so impressed by the way he spoke about horses in the class.... showing me his true passion for horses. So, although there are specific terms related to horses and the race horse industry, I could really enjoy his powerful speech in spite of these technical difficulties. After the class he sent me a lot of reference material of the class, which is very informative and educational for me.
カフェトークの日に、オンライン待機中のイアン先生を見つけて、突然でしたがレッスン依頼をしました。快く受け入れていただき、素晴らしいレッスンをしていただきました。彼の提供するクラスのメニューのひとつに「馬のクラス」がありますが、この時はなぜか別のクラスメニューしか選べない設定で、急遽、このポジティブスピーキングのクラスで、馬、および競馬のトピックについて教えてほしいと依頼しました。
イアン先生は馬の専門家ですね。難しい専門用語もありますが、説明が上手であっという間の楽しい時間でした。大好きな馬の知識も増え、英語の勉強もできて充実感があります。又、資料にも目を通しますので次回に宜しくお願い致します。

In this TED talk lesson, you can read the summary in advance, so you can prepare for that. Read the article, and talk your opinion. It is fun! Having a discussion is change your world! I highly recommend this lesson! Than you Mr Ian!

This lesson is really worth a try if you want to improve your English speaking skills. Ian is very easy to talk with and very passionate about improving students' English capability. For me, reading TED transcripts together was a fun and inspiring experience because I could realize how monotone my English is. Thanks for Ian, I could pay more attention where to pause, where to stress while reading aloud, which will also be useful to improve my presentations skills. TED is also a great tool to enjoy discussing together. Thank you Ian. I really enjoyed talking with you.
