I had my first lesson with Takayo Sensei! It was an awesome lesson. The lesson was so much fun. Takayo Sensei knows so much about living abroad and also Japanese culture. The conversation was so deep and meaningful. I am looking forward to the next lesson.

Very nice to catch up with Takayo san again. I had been taking Takayo san's shodo calligraphy classes (which I can definitely recommend), and decided to have just a conversational class after my trip to Japan.
Takayo san is a very patient, friendly teacher, and very helpful in helping you with the language.

Once again, Takayo-san's lesson was extremely informative and helpful. There are so many things that I have been taught here which would have taken so much longer to discover if I was only self studying. Today I was given clear explanations and examples of how to write 原 in block and cursive script. As well, as the teachers guidance, a helpful link was also sent.
As well as the lesson, I was also given good feedback, and some useful information regarding my upcoming visit to Japan with some shodo related places of interest.
This is a great place to deepen your knowledge and practical elements of shodo in a nicely paced relaxed manner. Always a pleasure!

Another very well given lesson by Takayo-san. Today I was given a very thorough lesson writing the character 林 in both block and cursive script. After being given clear examples of the way to write, I was guided to write using the model, and corrections were also clearly explained. Useful links, and suggested apps are also shared, and great feedback has always been much appreciated. Takayo-san's teaching style is very friendly and encouraging, and also a great place for me to practice my Japanese on top of the calligraphy.

Great lesson with Takayo-san who helped me write 水玉 today. As always I was given very clear examples and explanations to work from in both block script and cursive. On top of that the information regarding looking up kanji characters was interesting and helpful too (Japanese is so complicated :) )
Takayo-san has a very friendly, patient and generous way of teaching. Always a pleasure.

Takayo-sensei is an excellent shodo teacher and is very easy to learn from. She makes some great suggestions and is always encouraging. Highly recommended for anyone wanting to learn shodo.

It was my first lesson for a while due to various reasons so I was very much out of practice. However, Takayo-san, as always delivered a great introduction to writing kana, providing clear demonstrations and explanations. I hadn't noticed the subtle differences in writing kana and kanji before. It was a very interesting and informative lesson.
For those of you thinking about learning calligraphy/shodo, Takayo-san i a very attentive, friendly and generous teacher who I highly recommend.

After my break with travel, it was really good to get back to a class here with Takayo-san.
Today we moved onto 2 characters (火山) where I discovered however simple it looks, there are challenges. The guidance and examples by the teacher are always thorough and extremely helpful.
As well as the practical side of shodo, there is also the good advice and information regarding the materials: paper, ink and brushes etc...I also appreciate the teachers patience with my level of Japanese :)

These classes for me have been very special. Takayo-san has introduced me to so many aspects of Japanese calligraphy while helping me to use the little Japanese that I know. Combining language learning with a new art form has been really inspirational.
Takayo-san always shows up to the lessons with a great attitude, is easy to talk with (despite my language deficit), provides very useful material,examples, and exercises, and always gives really useful feedback.
I'm looking forward to more classes in the near future.

A fantastic lesson again. I received some very useful fundamentals regarding writing the radicals in kaisho, and the correct placement, size and relationship to other strokes.
Takayo-san 's teaching is always well presented, and delivered with a lot of patience, generosity and friendly guidance.
A great place to be to learn shodo (and challenge yourself with Japanese if you like).

Ever grateful for Takayo-san's patience, intelligence, intuition and generous teachings. Today I tried to write 光, and was given clear examples and explanations. Although I'm insisting on the class being in a language that I hardly understand, Takayo-san really takes her time to make sure the lesson is being understood.
Excellent feedback was provided as always. I have plenty to practice again.

Takayo-san's lesson was great as always. During the class I was presented with cursive writing, and a good way to approach the paper before practicing. Although my writing is not satisfying for me, I know with the encouragement, excellent feedback and suggestions for improvement I can improve with these lessons. Takayo-san's patience and kindness are always appreciated.

I was struggling with a lack of energy today, but Takayo-san is really good at adjusting the tempo and contents of the lessons. We covered ten (点) strokes and continued to learn how to write 心 where I was given plenty of good tips and examples.
I'm always very grateful for Takayo-san's patience, generosity and skills as an artist and teacher. Can highly recommend lessons here.

A wonderful lesson today! Plenty of ground was covered including a good introduction to radicals and the various styles of shodo.
If you're looking for a teacher with great insight and intuition combined with high level practical skills, this place is for you.
Excellent feedback, shodo models and textbook pages for further practice are always provided, and the classes are delivered calmly with a very supportive, encouraging teacher.

Each week I've been introduced to the strokes and characters I'm ready for with plenty of clear explanations and practical examples. Takayo-san has been so patient with my Japanese and calligraphy level, and is a great help to guide me through the fundamentals of shodo in an encouraging manner. The classes are at a perfect pace, the feedback excellent, and once more I can say I am very grateful to be learning here.

Another great lesson with Takayo-san. Today we started on a new character, was given some useful information regarding the brush and ink, and also I was introduced to some difficult strokes and dots. I'm looking forward to practicing now that I understand the practical side a bit better, thanks to the teacher. I feel these lessons are very good for anyone wanting to deepen their shodo practice regardless of their level. I'm a beginner but can see Takayo-sans experience, generosity and encouragement is really helping, and although I'm taking the lessons in Japanese, I can always relax knowing that Takayo-san can always explain what I don't understand in English.

Another great lesson. We covered some theory, and I was introduced to new kanji characters and new strokes, combining them to write 月. I need a lot of practice, but have had some really good tips, advice and examples of how to improve.
Takayo-san has great intuition for what her students are needing to focus on. As always, very much appreciated.

Another really nice lesson with Takayo-san. Today we explored some much needed theory, and I was guided through various kanji and some rules about writing them in the best way.
