Good morning Cafetalk friends!
Today I woke up and performed my usual gratitude routine. I give thanks for everything that is going well in my life, and acknowledge how lucky I am to be experiencing the life I currently have.
This has become an important practice for me, and has left me feeling very positive throughout my day. On top of this - I feel it is helping me get the most from my life, and not take any person or situation for granted, for there are millions of people in the world who are not having such great experiences, and I feel it is important to realise this and count yourself lucky.
After this I performed my morning exercises and then checked my emails as per usual. I was shocked and pleasantly surprised to see that a student had voted for me for the Winter 'Awesome Lesson Awards' for my 'Yoga for core strength and stability' lesson! This was extremely kind of her to do, and made me feel very happy. I didn't ask this student to do this (it is not my style to ask students to do things for me!) but it made me feel very warm inside to know that my lessons have been beneficial to others. After all - that is why I do the work I do! :-)
I have worked in many industries over my life, and even worked as a 'Locksmith' for nearly 9 years, but ultimately teaching and helping others directly has always been my passion, and even though I make much less money this way - I would never go back to my previous work.
One of the injuries sustained during my work as a Locksmith!
I have now been teaching others, working as not only an English Teacher, but also as a Yoga Teacher, Nutrition Consultant and Lower Back Pain Specialist for over 8 years. I love my life and the feeling of helping others, and to hear that I have helped someone in any way makes it all worthwhile to me. This is why I do this, and I am grateful for every moment, and to each and every one of my students and patients.
*NEW LESSON - Yoga / Qi Gong for Healthy Eyes and Skin!*
I had been debating whether to put this lesson up on Cafetalk for a while now, but was finally convinced to do it! Ashley and I have performed parts of this routine daily for a long time now, and I decided that it is time I shared it with others!
It uses basic exercises from Qi Gong, self massage, Yogic breathing and meditation in order to strengthen the eyes and has been traditionally used to help restore poor eyesight! Elements of it have been used daily for hundreds (maybe thousands!) of years by certain cultures and I would like to share it with you all. On top of this, I have combined another Qi Gong routine which I have personally used for over 10 years each day, in order to keep the skin on my face supple, youthful and rejuvenated!
Students often guess my age (incorrectly! haha) and think I am much younger than I actually am. I am also the only person in my family who does not wear glasses! I have practiced these routines for many years now, so who knows if I have these routines to thank for this.
