Hello, I'm Teacher Asuka. Today, I'm going to show you some photos around Gion area.こんにちは、ティーチャーアスカです。今日は、祇園エリアの写真をいくつかお見せしましょう。

Have you ever been to Gion area? Do you know where the below picture is?....Yes, it's Yasaka Jinjya-Shrine which is located in the end of the Kawaramachi-dori street,Kyoto. This Shrine is very famous for its great festival called 'Gion-Matsuri festival every July.あなたは祇園エリアに行ったことがありますか？ 下の写真はどこか分かりますか？yasaka-jinjya shrine八坂神社

---そうです、それは、京都の河原町通りの突き当りに位置する、八坂神社です。この神社は、毎年七月に開催される「祇園祭」と呼ばれる大きな祭りで知られています。

Many people will come and visit this shrine all the time because of easy accsess from the Hankyu Railway Kawaramachi, terminal station. 阪急電車の終着駅の河原町駅からすぐにアクセスできるので、いつでも多くの人がこの神社を訪れます。

This is the place called 'Mai-den' which is located in front of the 'Hon-den',Main Shrine. Ancient court music and dance for all the gods and goddesses is usually held at the 'Mai-den'.この場所は、舞殿と呼ばれ、本殿の前にあります。この舞殿では、ふつう、神々への雅楽や舞が開催されます。

You can see this kinds of old-fashioned shops and houses around this area.　この地域では、このような昔の面影のするお店や住宅が見られます。

You can also see this kinds of the wooden-style unique arch in Kyoto. Do you know what it is? It's called 'Inuyarai' -a wooden fence or barrier which is set in front of the street because of refraining from splash of the mud of horse, or the dog's pee. This is a kind of wit in the ancient times in Kyoto.　京都では、このような木製のユニークなアーチも見られます。これを何だか知っていますか？それは、ウマの泥はねや犬のおしっこを避けるための「犬矢来（いぬやらい）」と呼ばれる、通りの前に設置される木製の垣根のことです。これは、京都の昔の時代にあったある種の知恵なんです。
