FAST 5!

Objective:

To quickly recall and name five words related to a given category, improving vocabulary and quick thinking skills.

Materials Needed:

• A timer (optional)
• A list of categories (or let students come up with their own)

How to Play:

1. The teacher or a student calls out a category (e.g., colors, emotions, sports, travel destinations).
2. The player must quickly list five words related to that category.
3. The challenge is to do this within 10 seconds (or adjust the time limit based on student level).
4. If the player succeeds, they earn a point. If they don’t, another player gets a chance.
5. Rotate turns so that everyone participates.

Example Categories & Answers:

• Fruits: Apple, Banana, Orange, Mango, Pineapple
• Hobbies: Reading, Painting, Dancing, Cooking, Cycling
• Countries: France, Japan, Brazil, Canada, Italy
• Emotions: Happy, Sad, Angry, Excited, Nervous

Variations:

• Team Play: Divide students into teams, and the first team to shout five correct words wins.
• Written Version: Instead of speaking, students write their answers. The fastest correct answer wins.
• Advanced Mode: Players must use each word in a short sentence.
