Hello, Cafetalk community! I just want to say a huge thank you to everyone who joined my seminar, ‘Holistic Communications Techniques’, last Friday.
Thanks for all of your positive feedback.
For those who missed the seminar, I spoke about the idea of ‘holistic communication’ – communication which takes into account the person as a whole, as well as recognising their place as part of an ecosystem. Then I explained some communications techniques which come from 3 different fields which I have some experience in. the first I spoke about is the Hawaiian shamanic tradition of Huna. The second is Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP), which is often used in therapy but which has diverse applications.
The third technique is the one which I think has the most practical applications, but for me, I find it more effective to also use tools from Huna and NLP when practicing it.
It is called Non-Violent Communication, usually shortened to NVC, and is a way of formulating language to resolve conflicts.
Each of these: Huna, NLP and NVC constitute entire fields of study, and in the seminar I just introduced them quickly. If you would like to dive more deeply into any of these, please feel free to book a class with me.
