An interesting detective story

Jul 10, 2024

This book The Body in the Library is a famous story by Agatha Christie, one of Britain's favourite authors. Many people around the world enjoy her detective stories. In these stories there is a crime, usually a murder or a big robbery, and you must use all the information to work out who did it and what happened.

Agatha Christie lived 1890-1976 and she created fictional detectives: one is Hercule Poirot and another is Miss Marple. Miss Marple is an elderly English lady who lives in a village - most people don't realise she is in fact a clever detective. She is not a policewoman - she just works things out on her own and helps to solve crimes. She does this by knowing people well and comparing situations to what happens in her village.

In The Body in the Library, a young woman is found lying in the library of a house belonging to a rich husband and wife - who killed the young woman and why is the body here? Fortunately the wife has a friend - Miss Marple - who can find out.

You can follow Miss Marple as she tries to solve the crime in this Collins edition adapted specially for leaners of English. It is recommended to buy the book online or in a shop - it is at easy intermediate level.

Some of the language is changed to make the story easier but you still get the fun of the plot and an interesting and satisfying story.

You can read the book by yourself and ask me questions about it in the lesson. Or we will read the story aloud in the lesson and talk about it.

After the lesson I will send you feedback and links to further information.
I look forward to reading it with you.
