Plans for summer 2024

Weekly Topic: Plans for summer!

Jun 5, 2024

The days are getting longer in Toronto (sunset is around 9 pm now) and summer will be here soon. Before it gets too hot, I’m planning to enjoy June as much as possible!

On June 11th, I’m off to the Princess of Wales Theatre to see the musical Wicked for a second time. It’s been 6 years since the last time I saw it, but now it’s back in Toronto and this seems like a good time to enjoy it again since the movie adaptation will come out later this year.

On June 15th, 16th, and 17th, I’ll take a few days off to celebrate my birthday. This is a big one - I’m turning 40! Some friends from Nova Scotia are flying in to visit, and together with my friends in Toronto, we’ll have three days of celebrations, including an overnight trip to cottage country here in Ontario. I’m also planning on making some resolutions for the “2nd half” of my life and I’m going to change my lifestyle a bit after turning 40, particularly with regard to health and how I spend my time. Cutting down on beer is a big goal haha!

On June 21st, I’m finally going back to Niagara Falls - my first visit in about 20 years! Even though I live in Toronto, which is only 2 hours away from Niagara Falls, I’ve only been there once, and it was in the winter! This will just be a day trip by bus, but I’ll try to make the most of my time there. Maybe it’s finally time to ride the Maid of the Mist (boat)!

By the end of June, it will probably start to get pretty hot, so I’ll be spending most of my time indoors, but I’ll take one more trip from July 17th-20th to visit my parents. I only see them twice a year, once in the summer and once at Christmas time, so this annual trip to the countryside is a must. It takes about 4 hours by subway, train, and car to get there, but it’s well-worth the trip, and we’ll have a chance to celebrate a lot of birthdays together. After that, I’ll come back to Toronto, hide in my apartment with my fan, and just focus on work until fall arrives and the weather cools down again!
