Studying with textbooks: Survey

May 30, 2024

Today I’d like to ask some questions about people’s experiences learning with textbooks! I would love to hear from as many people as possible, so if you don’t mind sharing your answer(s) with me, please feel free to post a comment, send me a direct message, or let me know in our next lesson!

My questions are:

Have you ever used a textbook to study English? If so, which book(s) did you use?

Have you ever used a Cambridge textbook, such as the Touchstone, Viewpoint, or In Use series (Grammar in Use, Vocabulary in Use, etc.)?

Do you like using a textbook (because it provides structure to your learning) or do you find it boring?

Personally, I like using textbooks to assist my language learning, but I have also met many people who dislike them. Many of my students on Cafetalk have told me that they are tired of textbooks and prefer to focus on conversation/communication these days, especially during online lessons. How about you? Let me know!
