My Family Reunions are Mundane

Weekly Topic: What do you usually do on family reunions?

2024-05-18

I am very curious what do you usually do on family gatherings. In my case, family reunions are very ordinary, almost mundane, but full of love, good food, and cherished moments. We don't have extravagant activities; instead, we simply enjoy each other's company.
Each of my parents has a different style of connecting and spending quality time. My mom expresses her love through food. I have a particular fondness for okra, so during my last visit, my mom prepared a lot of it for me. I ate so much that at one point,I had to ask her to stop!
My dad on the other hand is always eager to hear about my experiences and the new things I've learned. His enthusiasm to listen makes me wanna share more. He also loves gardening, so sometimes I join him in the garden to chat while we work together.
My brother takes me to his favorite Momo (Nepali dumpling) shops in the neighbourhood and plays the role of my personal chauffeur. He nearly got offended last time when I called an Uber instead of asking him to pick me up. We share a beautiful bond of siblinghood, even though we were like cats and dogs while growing up together.

Our family reunions may seem ordinary, but they are filled with love, good food, and cherished moments.
