Luna New Year Fun

Weekly Topic: What do you know about Lunar New Year Celebrations?

Feb 10, 2024

Whilst living in China, before COVID, I experienced some amazing Luna New Year traditions.
Many involved food and big parties at work but my favourite moments centred around the decorations.

These were in the garden belonging to my old apartment (2018). I especially like the display made with oranges.

2018 was my year because I'm the year of the dog. There were many lights depicting dogs but also dragons and children.

I love all the different lanterns and the old streets. I spent most of my time teaching in Shenzhen but explored the coast regularly too.

If you would like to learn more about my travels and experiences please book a lesson.
It is time to take the next step towards better English skills.

  • 新年快乐 (Xīnnián kuàilè)”: Happy New Year.

Best wishes,
Thirzah.
