What Halloween Costume Am I Most Confident In?
These days Halloween is a huge event in Japan with young people spending vast sums of money to dress up. Indeed, on NHK news this morning I saw a story/report on how young people dress up and celebrate Halloween together at Nagoya Oasis. If you are not familiar with this, it is a very futuristic looking structure (like a UFO) smack in the middle of Nagoya. It is surrounded by a lot of restaurants and bars so I guess it is the ‘go-to’ place for young people. Unfortunately, with the pandemic still a problem (in my opinion) I am a little nervous that the celebration will cause a spike in cases of covid throughout Nagoya.
As far as dressing up in a costume is concerned, I have actually never done it. Although Halloween originated in Scotland and travelled to America via England it seems that dressing up and participating in activities such as Trick or Treat have always been more popular in the US than England. My wife enjoys wearing kimonos and going out for a meal or shopping, but that does not count as dressing up. So I guess it’s a bust. No interesting Halloween news from me.
Have a great Halloween,
Buri
