Something that makes me smile, no matter what?
Well, the thing that makes my wife and I laugh like little children is when we fart during our evening yoga practice. That happens every now and again because we are a little old. I think it’s good because it stops me taking life too seriously. Actually my farts smell much bette than my wife’s which is a curious fact indeed.
In a more general sense, I believe in the ideas of the great philosophers called the Stoics. One of their most important concepts was called ‘Amor Fati’ which means love fate. Actually it means love everything that happens in life whether or not other people think it is good, bad, or even an earth-shattering disaster. It is not just a case of being passive but actually loving what happens. This can be quite challenging, but a disaster or mistake isn’t going to change just because you are crying so you might as well be cheerful and make the best of the situation.
In this sense then, I smile at everything without fail!
