Every year, on the anniversary of his birthday, 25 January, people in Scotland, and across the world, celebrate him with a special dinner called a Burns supper.
Official celebrations with special events take place, Burns clubs hold big dinners, and many ordinary people cook Burns suppers in their own homes.
I have created a time limited lesson until early February, in which we will look quickly at the life and works of Robert Burns, and at why he has remained so popular, then at what happens during Burns suppers, and the traditional dishes which people cook.
