Dear Students,
As for the weekly topic I do not have a favorite poet but I have always loved the lyrics of folk songs written by local people their names lost through time, but thier story still told through song...
I am happy to announce that you can listen for free on youtube or any downloading and streaming site to the release of my co-arrangment of the North American Folk Song - Come all ye Fair and Tender Ladies.
If folk music from North America is new to you , I suggest to give the song a liten 3-5 times in a row, listening closely to the lyrics to understand the warning the singer is telling the young ladies of the village.
Myself and Ian Green ( co-arranger ) arranged this song for ocarina, paino and voice. This song was a blend of feeling from North America and Japan and sparks a nostelgic feeling in the listener. The light, raw, natural voice of Japanese singer, songwriter and compster Chihiro Nagamatsu from Kumamoto, Japan ( now living in Canada) brings the earthy, mournful personal feel to this folk warning song.
We hope that you will enjoy our arrangement.
Kindly,
StephanieRiann
