A few reasons why should I learn English?
My name is Martin and I am from the UK. I live in Colombia in South America and many people ask me why should I learn English? Most of my English students are Spanish speakers and live in countries that only speak Spanish. They have many reasons and motivators to learn or improve their English. Let's explore what some are the possible reasons!
English is one of the most spoken languages in the world with over 2 billion people speaking it! It is often referred to as the world language so the chances that you could meet someone that speaks English is 1 in 5! This especially helps when you travel the world and meet new people.
Jobs and companies are looking for employees that can speak English. If you improve your English you improve the chances of a higher salary or promotion. English is the language of science, aviation, computers, diplomacy, and tourism and these industries are huge. Some companies are willing to pay 10 to 15% more!
English is almost the top business language to know whether you are a student, business owner or employee. You open up business opportunities because according to a British Chambers of Commerce study found that more than 60% of companies who want to do business in other countries, including exporting products, are unable to do so due to language barriers. This speaks for itself!
