・*.+.*・Hello Friends!・*.+.*・
Please call me エスター (she/they)! It is my desire to offer a space that is safe, fun, and student-directed. As much as possible, I would like for students to chart their own course and to follow their heart and personal interests. I aspire to the philosophical theories of the Free School movement, and to the praxis style employed at Sudbury Valley Schools and Summerhill Schools where the needs of the student are centered.
I have taught English to high school students in Tokyo for 4 years, and I have 2 years of experience tutoring at a school for dyslexic children in the United States. Additionally, I have also tutored ESL students at my university for a number of years. I prefer to work with high school students and adult-language learners, but I can also work with younger children if necessary.
I am greatly interested in the use of literature in language teaching. If you would like to learn English by exploring literature together, I am more than happy to oblige! I believe that the study of literature encompasses not only books, but other forms of media as well, and that the study of literature can improve not only reading skills — but also speaking, listening, and writing. I invite you to enjoy 英語多読 with me! (Reading lessons will be available soon!)
