Hello, my name is Miss Megan. I am a TEFL Certified, freelance English teacher. I am originally from California in the United States.  I enjoy traveling and have visited throughout North, Central, and South America and Europe.  I have my Bachelors of Science in Business Administration and Masters in Accounting and Financial Management. I have always enjoyed teaching. I have been involved in education for the past 9 years including business management, training consulting, financial seminars, and most recently in Preschool through Junior High classrooms working with individuals who were mainly English as a Secondary Language students (ESL). I am currently working on my single subject teaching credential.

What makes me unique is I create customized lessons which will be efficient, effective, and direct to meet your specific needs.  I have a main topic focus each day.  I split up my lessons so that nothing is redundant and to keep the information fresh.  I design my lessons so you can be the best student you can be.  I also continuously check for understanding to find strengths and opportunities and give direct feedback. 

I have access to multiple learning guides, document tools, and educational books that I will assign or recommend to my students dependent upon the amount of experience they have in English. At the beginning of the lesson we would review homework and cover any questions that arose since our last session.  We will then converse to test oral communication.  This would segue into an activity.  Afterwards we will debrief and I will test for understanding from the activity.  We will converse again, depending on the topic of the lesson.  Finally, I would assign homework to be completed by the next tutoring session.  If there is additional time we can even review slang, idioms, or expressions, (I always have a back-up plan).

I am comfortable teaching individuals of all ages and experience levels including Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced, and Expert – depending on academic level or business need.  My background in corporate training has given me experience teaching in person and online to a variety of individuals from ages 17-90.  This past year has allowed me the opportunity to substitute teach with children 3-18, many who were ESL (English as a Secondary Language).

Next Steps? I have a brief 10-20 minute conversation with all of my potential students to ensure that we will be a good fit for one another.  I am dedicated to you and your success and I want to ensure you (and others that may be involved) are as well.  We need to work well together to meet our goals.  I want to set you up for success, so we will evaluate your strengths and opportunities. I will answer questions that you have and we will strategize how we can meet and exceed your expectations.

On a personal level, I am passionate about yoga, travel, and photography and have two blogs where I write about these activities.  When I am not busy I really like curling up with a good book.  I also enjoy involvement in my community, whether that is through socialization or volunteering.  Sometimes I can even be spotted behind a microphone singing karaoke.
