課程介紹
I'm going to choose a monologue or short scene from TV and films for you.
A monologue is usually a minute or two minute long. For instance...this monologue.
I was there, sitting, waiting for you. I didn't have a friend or anyone to talk to about how nervous I was when this lady came walking up to me. She looked at me and said "it's going to be alright" and just walked away. I asked her what in the world she was talking about. She turned, stared at me and said "your date". I said, it's that obvious? And she said, "no, but I have the power to see beyond". I was so intrigued, Sarah. So I asked her, " what else can you see?" She walked back and grabbed my hand hard and said very slowly, still staring at my hand, running a finger all over the lines, that I am going to die with the love of my life. So I asked her, is Sarah the love of my life? And she said without any hesitation whatsoever, yes, absolutely she is.
First, we are going to read it through a few times. And then we are going to talk about this scene, who the character is talking to, what the character's objective is and we really get into the scene. I am going to guide you to be able to put your emotion into the dialogue and work on your inflections and pronunciation as well.
Using movie scripts is very effective for learning English since there are many great and useful expressions and phrases and most importantly we want to express our feelings truthfully in words.
