2024 was another year of lies and deception

每週主題: What were the main events/memories you have from year 2024?

2024年12月30日

In 2024, the world was engulfed in a wave of lies and deception. Politicians, world leaders, and even everyday people seemed to be caught in a web of deceit, spinning tales to serve their own agendas. The trust between individuals and institutions continued to crumble as falsehoods spread like wildfire, creating a climate of uncertainty and fear.

One of the major contributing factors to the prevalence of lies in 2024 was the spread of fake news across all media. Mainstream outlets and platforms such as Facebook, X, and Instagram continued to be breeding grounds for misinformation (mainly government propaganda machines), with stories being shared and reshared without any verification of their accuracy, such as the unfounded claims that the covid-19 experimental gene therapies are safe and effective.

Another factor that played a significant role in the year of lies and deception was the polarised political climate. As always, leaders on both sides of the political spectrum resorted to dishonesty in order to further their own agendas and demonise their opponents (even though there is only a uniparty). This led to a deepening divide among the population, as people were unable to discern fact from fiction and were manipulated by those in power.

The ongoing conflict between Israel and Palestinians in Gaza has led to numerous instances of violence and human rights violations, including acts of genocide. The term "genocide" refers to the intentional destruction, in whole or in part, of an ethnic, racial, religious, or national group. In Gaza, the targeting of Palestinian civilians, including women and children, by Israeli forces constitutes genocide.

The use of indiscriminate weapons, such as artillery and airstrikes, in densely populated areas has resulted in the deaths of countless innocent civilians. Israeli bombings have destroyed homes, schools, hospitals, and other critical infrastructure, leaving many Palestinians without access to basic necessities like clean water, food, and medical care. This deliberate targeting of civilian infrastructure is a clear violation of international humanitarian law and constitutes genocide.

Overall, the disturbing alliance between the Trump administration and its Zionist movement will continue to have significant implications for US foreign policy in the Middle East. While Israel has welcomed the support of the US government, this alliance will continue to further polarise the region and undermine efforts to achieve a lasting peace between Israelis and Palestinians.
